I'm pretty much ready for the 46th Dinagyang Festival with my side trips (Guimaras and Isla Gigantes). This is going to be my 3rd consecutive year of attending the festival... Yes! I fell in love with the festival!
And this year's theme,
"Bringing More Fun to the World" with 13 expected tribes to perform! Last year, I think there were only 11 tribes.
It's all happening from the 24th-26th of January 2014. The 26th is for the actual tribal competition. Indeed one of the grandest and most anticipated events in the country and the pride of Ilonggos. It is a religious festival in honor of Sto. Nino. The streets of Iloilo do come alive as participants and even locals dress up in colorful Ati costumes. Expect the streets packed when the performers parade and show their lively tribal dance.
So all with the same route, carousel type, participating tribes will simultaneously perform in each of the four judging areas: Freedom Grandstand, Quezon-Ledesma Streets, Iloilo Provincial Capitol and Ma. Clara Street - all within the city proper area.
