Trappist Monastery, Solemnity in Guimaras

The Trappist Abbey or Monastery is one of the first few stops when you tour Guimaras. Best place to de-stress and reflect before heading for the island activities.[...]

Located in Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan Town, Guimaras. It can be reached 20-30 mins via jeepney or arrange a tricycle/multicab tour from Jordan wharf (take the pumpboat from Ortiz wharf, Iloilo to get to Jordan) but longer travel time if you're coming from Buenavista port (take the pumpboat from Parola wharf, Iloilo to get to Buenavista).

The Trappist Monastery is located on solemn grounds run by monks of the Cistercian Order and dedicated to live a life of the contemplative search for God. One of the best places of prayer and contemplation. If you see a monk or a nun, approach and greet them and if still have the time they will create a nice conversation with you, tell stories and say prayers with you and for you. They are full of wise thoughts, so take that opportunity to reflect on their words while you're in that serene state.

Be prepared to stack up on the food products that are uniquely Trappist made. The monks earn a living by selling delicacies and handmade crafts in a small shop within the monastery grounds.
