How to Get to Baguio

Baguio City is approx. 240 kilometers from Manila. This basically is the entry point to the wonders in the Cordillera region.

Just to give you a brief overview of the highways leading to Baguio City. It is accessible from various mountain highway systems that filipinos normally call the "zigzag".
So while going through  the scenic mountains and hills it will then lead you to the city of pines. There are 5 highways, the most popular is the Kennon road due to it's snake-like zigzags. Favored for wider lanes would be the Marcos Highway, which I highly prefer coz driving looks much safer there. Then we have the Naguilian Road as the entry point for the northern luzon travelers.

And of course roads that I'm not really familiar with (so I googled... ha ha) the Halsema Rd which normally connects to Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao and places in the northeast and lastly the Baguio-Nueva Vizcaya Rd. whihc is the newest access for those coming from provinces to the east of the city.

Now, let's go to Baguio!

By Private Transport:
It would take 4-5 hours travel from Manila, take the NLEX up to Exit 85, to get to the SCTEX. Shift to the right lane and head for Baguio via Tarlac, unless you wish to go to Subic, just drive straight. Just drive through the SCTEX stretch til you reach the Tarlac City exit where you then turn left. Then follow the road signs, it's going to be a 10km drive to the MacArthur Highway. Goodluck! :)

Upon reaching MacArthur Hwy, pass through the rest of the towns in Tarlac and the stretch of Pangasinan till you reach Rosario, La Union. Once there it will be your option whether to go Kennon or Marcos. Turn right at the Rosario junction for Kennon and a little further about 500 meters turn right for Marcos Hwy and your on your way to Baguio.

By Public Transport:
It generally takes 5-7 hours by Bus. I know, quite long, due to stops along the way. But it is the economical way of getting there especially if you're into traveling on a budget and not into driving for long hours. And of course the convenience of no longer doing the navigation and piece of mind that you wont get lost along the way.  Bus lines that I'd prefer taking would be Victory Liner, Genesis Joy Bus and Dagupan Bus.

The buses are generally modern and air-conditioned but seats may be a bit of a problem. Reason for the stops, so our long-legged friends could do some stretching and chow-time. They also offer deluxe services which are a bit pricey but more leg room and snacks. Ticket Prices range from P455.00 - P545.00 for the regular fares but for the deluxe/special tickets, it would cost P615.00 - P715.00 one-way.
